Services available for Drug and Alcohol Abuse Intervention in South Carolina

There are various programs that the state government of South Carolina has implemented to tackle the problems of alcohol abuse and drug abuse within the state. There are four major programs for intervention in South Carolina that help in making different segments of society aware of this problem and bringing them to treatment as soon as possible. The following is a list of these four intervention programs that are available within South Carolina.

1. The Alcohol and Drug Safety Action Program is mandatory for all individuals in South Carolina who have been booked under DUI. The state makes this an obligatory program before the person can apply for relicensing. It can be clearly seen why this program works at reducing the problem of drug and alcohol abuse in South Carolina. By making this program compulsory, the state can identify the people who are strongly into addiction and need treatment.

2. The Community Based Outreach Program is for people who are looking for getting treatment for their addiction problems by getting them funded through Medicaid programs. The intention of this intervention program in South Carolina is to allow people to get Medicaid funding for their treatment so that more people would be able to get treated for their addictions.

3. Offender Based Intervention, as the name suggests, is for people who have been booked for criminal offenses but have been under drug or alcohol influence when the crime was committed. People who are repeat offenders are also included in these programs if alcohol or drugs had influenced them when they committed the crime.

4. The Youth and Adolescent Services is a program for young individuals who are in high-risk positions for an addiction.
