Withdrawal has got to be the single most important event to occur in a substance abuse rehabilitation center. Do not underestimate your addiction. It is a difficult foe that will not give in easily. The commitment level required can be hard to explain to the addict attempting recovery. It is sometimes even harder to explain to those around the addict. Addicts loved ones often make uninformed statements like “why don’t you just quit” or “You started this thing and now you need to stop it”. It is certainly not the speakers fault. Those who have not struggled with addiction can not be expected to understand. Substance abuse recovery is not easy. It is not something that can be done alone.

Outpatient addiction treatment centers may use a variety of methods to treat alcoholism and drug abuse. They typically last around four to six weeks, with sessions three to five days per week. This can be a good option for individuals who only have a minor addiction problem and have a job. This way, they can go to a rehab program without missing work.
