About 200 people check in for their heroin addiction problems in various heroin rehab centers in the state of Oklahoma each year. Though the problem seems quite small judging by this number, you have to think of the larger picture – overall, 18,000 Oklahomans need treatment for their addictions each year.
Heroin is one of the most dangerous drugs that is in use in the United Sates and therest of the world. Heroin abuse can cause hallucination, drowsiness, disorientation, and seizures.
Outpatient addiction treatment centers may use a variety of methods to treat alcoholism and drug abuse. Patients in outpatient programs are able to live at home and go to the treatment center at appointed times and days to receive help. Sessions may be held either during the daytime or in the evenings. They typically last around four to six weeks, with sessions three to five days per week. This can be a good option for individuals who only have a minor addiction problem and have a job. This way, they can go to a rehab program without missing work.

Methadone is a prescription drug that rehab facilities and methadone clinics use to treat opiate and heroin addiction and to reduce the symptoms of detox. The detox period can be very painful and make an addict seriously ill. By using methadone, people can detox from other more dangerous drugs, like heroin, and not feel the withdrawal symptoms.
